Floral Installation at Kunstmuseum Basel – A summer evening dedicated to delicate composition
For a special event with around 200 guests, I was commissioned to design the floral decoration in the courtyard of the Kunstmuseum Basel. The focus was on finding the right balance between subtlety and presence – inspired by the signature style of Michelin-starred chef Tanja Grandits, who created the evening’s menu.
Inside the large tent constructed over the courtyard, I created a suspended installation: a floating meadow of flowers, formed by 100 cylindrical glass tubes stretching across twelve metres of the gabled ceiling – a poetic line of blossoms in the air. The same light and linear aesthetic continued on the tables, where slim glass vases echoed the hanging composition.
All flowers were sourced locally and seasonally, in close collaboration with a regional flower field. The result was a floral concept that gently filled the generous space, subtly shaped the atmosphere, and mirrored the fine culinary language of the evening with quiet, lasting presence.
